HPMC is widely used in construction, building materials, dispersive coatings, wallpaper pastes, polymerization aids, paint removers, leather, ink, paper, etc. as thickeners, adhesives, water retention agents, film formers, Shape agent and so on. For example, it is used as a binder, thickener and water retaining agent in building materials, as a film-forming agent and thickener in the coating industry, and also widely used in oil drilling and daily chemical industries.
Properties:
HPMC is a white or off-white powder that is odorless, non-toxic and forms a clear colloid in aqueous solution.
Water solubility and thickening ability:
HPMC is cold water and soluble in cold water. After mixing HPMC with cold water for about 10 minutes, the mixture will become sticky and form a transparent viscous liquid. Its thickening ability depends on its viscosity. Our company’s viscosity can be produced from 2000mpa.s to 200,000 mpas.
Low Ash:
HPMC is non-ionic and can be washed with hot water during the preparation process and effectively refined, so its ash content is very low, about 2%-5%.
PH stability:
The viscosity of the aqueous solution of HPMC is relatively stable in the range of pH 3.0-10.0. After less than 3 or more than 10, the viscosity will be greatly reduced, and HPMC has no viscosity in pure water.
Water retention:
It has a high viscosity, can lock moisture, and makes water evaporate slowly. Therefore, it is used as a water retention agent in cement/putty.
Lubrication:
It has good lubricity. It can improve the workability in putty powder and mortar. In honeycomb ceramics, good lubricity is beneficial to extrusion molding.
Anti-mildew:
It has a good anti-mildew effect and is not easy to deteriorate. In the application of cosmetics, it can prevent the stratification/mold of the product.
Film-forming property:
After the putty powder is applied to the wall, a dense film is formed on the surface of the putty powder, and the surface of the product is round and delicate in the honeycomb ceramic.
