Effect of HPMC on mortar water retention

Effect of HPMC on mortar water retention,The water retention capacity of the mortar refers to the ability of the mortar to retain moisture. If the water retention of the mortar is poor, in the process of applying the mortar, water evaporates easily.

Poor water retention capacity:

  • Due to excessive water loss of the mortar, it affects the normal coagulation and hardening of the mortar.
  • Reduces the adhesion between the mortar and the surface.reducing the quality of the project.
  • The mortar is poorly bonded, the water is easily sucked by the bricks.
  • So that the mortar is too thick and smeared. When the project is implemented, it not only affects the progress, but also causes the wall to be easily cracked due to shrinkage.

Traditional water retention method

  • Watering the base layer, but this does not guarantee a uniform wetting of the base layer.
  • Direct watering to the surface of the base layer will cause the water absorption of the base layer to be seriously dispersed due to the difference in temperature, watering time and watering uniformity.
  • Therefore, the common base watering method can not only effectively solve the problem of high water absorption of the base layer of the wall,
  • Affect the mortar and the base layer, resulting in empty drums and dry cracks.

HPMC’s water retention performance has several advantages:

  1. HPMC’s excellent water retention performance makes the mortar open longer,
  2. And has the advantages of large-area construction, long-term use in the barrel, batch mixing and batch use.
  3. The water retention of HPMC can make the cement in the mortar hydrated sufficiently and effectively improve the bonding performance of the mortar.
  4.  Excellent water retention can make the mortar less prone to segregation and bleeding,

Because of its high performance of water retention,so that the workability and construction of the mortar are improved.

Traditional methods can’t change this result.

HPMC has high water retention and reduces unnecessary losses.
